Don’t Overcomplicate It—Start with the Basics

Let’s Talk About the Basics… 📋

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of this:
"I’m tired, I’m gaining weight, I feel weak…"
And then, the next thing I get asked is for an elaborate plan—macros, calorie-counting, fad diets. But hold up… do you have the basics down yet? 👀

Because here’s the thing: if you haven’t nailed the basics, jumping into an extreme change or restrictive diet won’t lead to lasting results. It’s not sustainable. So before you start planning, ask yourself:

  • Are you drinking enough water?
  • Are you getting quality sleep?
  • Are you limiting screen time?
  • Are you moving your body daily?
  • Are you eating enough to fuel your day?

Admittedly, I’ve been working extra hard lately, and I noticed I was feeling off too. So, I asked myself these same questions, and the answers were a lot of NOs. 🤷‍♀️

So, my goal this week? Get back to the basics. Sometimes, life gets crazy, and these simple things slip away. Don’t feel bad if that’s where you are right now. Just know it’s a fresh week, and we get to reset.

  • My dog is getting fixed tomorrow, so I’m prepping for a week of puppy care. Wish me luck!
  • I caught some amazing bands at ACL this weekend—Foster the People & Blink 182 rocked! 🎸
  • I was a bit under the weather this week, so I’ve been in and out of the doctor’s office trying to figure out what's going on (Allergies? Exhaustion? Who knows 🤷‍♀️). But it’s a reminder to listen to your body and adjust when you need to. I’ve been doing movements that feel good and dialing back the intensity when necessary. Balance is key!
