It's okay, to not be okay

Let me tell you transparently, I have been “going through it”...

I shared a few emails back that I am going through a break-up and damn, it has my mind spinning. While I know it’s the right decision, I am battling the thoughts of “not being enough.” I am struggling to surrender and just let myself be sad because I want so badly to be “okay” when I am, in fact, not okay. And I just want to remind you here that “It’s okay to not be okay.” 💔

One of the biggest things I’ve learned through all the tough moments in my life—tearing my ACL on National Television, having a super embarrassing costume malfunction on stage during my fitness America, and so many others—is that you can’t bypass the “feelings part.” For some people, it hits them immediately; for others, it’s more of a delayed reaction. But it’s okay to feel things because we are human, and that’s a part of life. 🌟

So anyways! I am here feeling my feelings about this topic, but MAYBE you are feeling some sort of way about something else? Maybe it’s a break-up, maybe it’s job loss, maybe you are mad about not being able to get your pull-up—whatever it might be, your feelings are so damn valid. 💪

So here’s some things I am doing while I am “IN IT”:

1. Taking time away from social media so that I can sit with myself and my thoughts.

2. Going for lots of long walks with my amazing doggie Pepper! Sitting by the water with her, giving her all the love. 🐶💕

3. Releasing the expectations of me going super hard at work... because the truth is, when you don’t feel great, you can’t make any big decisions because you are not at your highest state. So any thoughts I have about biz that seem out there, I am leaving to make the decisions when I am feeling better.

4. Breathwork—I’ve been doing a lot of breathing and reflecting and starting to imagine how I want to feel, flashing back to moments when I was in my highest state, how did I feel, who was I with?

5. Movement! I’ve been doing some kind of movement every day! A run or taking a class here locally since it helps me fully disconnect from what is happening. 🏃‍♀️

That’s a HUGE part about this whole movement thing... I remember when I was in gymnastics, my coach used to always say, when you are in these four walls, nothing in the outside world matters, you can just be present with yourself and your body. And he’s right, movement is a great chance to reconnect with ourselves, and it doesn’t have to be “crazy” movements we are doing. 🤸‍♀️
