Over the holidays, I had the chance to take a yoga class with my mom, who’s in her 60s. My mom recently retired from being a special needs teacher—a job that’s both rewarding and incredibly demanding.
Like so many others, her work often spilled into nights and weekends, leaving her with little time for movement. But now that she’s retired, she’s made a commitment to herself, and I couldn’t be prouder.
After class, we chatted with the instructor, who shared her journey of frustration and discouragement after hitting 40. She talked about gaining weight, feeling too tired to move, and struggling with how her body was changing.
This story broke my heart because I hear it all the time from women in my programs. Whether it’s peri-menopause, menopause, or just the natural process of aging, these changes can really mess with us—both mentally and physically.
But here’s the thing: We don’t have to let it.
As we age, our bodies change. That’s just a fact. And one of the biggest challenges is that it gets harder to hold onto muscle—the very thing that keeps us feeling strong, energized, and living a high-quality life.
What you used to get away with—skipping meals, random workouts, or endless cardio—just doesn’t work anymore.
So many women try to fix this by:
❌ Taking a bunch of supplements
❌ Working out even more
❌ Beating themselves up mentally
But those approaches only leave you exhausted and more discouraged.

🍳 30g of protein + 10g of fiber in the morning and at night.
Protein helps build muscle, while fiber supports digestion and hormones.
Aim to increase your daily steps by 2,000—no need to overcomplicate it. Walking not only supports physical health but also clears your mind.
Shift your focus from “losing weight” to gaining a skill. I love helping women work on pull-ups because it’s empowering and fun. Plus, improving grip strength is a key marker of longevity.
Before diving into fad diets or expensive supplements, focus on making the above steps second nature. When these habits feel like brushing your teeth, you’re on the right track.
Your body is changing, yes. But these steps aren’t just about looking better—they’re about feeling better. They’re about reclaiming your energy, your confidence, and your sense of self.
This process isn’t about doing it all at once. It’s about taking small, actionable steps.
1️⃣ Love your body where it’s at. Forgive, thank, and listen to it.
2️⃣ Focus on building muscle, fueling with purpose, and moving daily.
3️⃣ Small, consistent steps beat drastic overhauls every time.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the changes happening in your body, know this: You’re not alone, and there’s so much you can do to feel better and stronger. Start small, be kind to yourself, and stay consistent.
